PLRT Tutoring

Hellooo.. =)

Today was my first day being a tutor in PLRT Tutoring at SIS (Sekolah Indonesia Singapura - Indonesian School in Singapore).. It was tiring, but interesting.. =D

So, it started about last month, I joined PPIS (Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia Singapura - Indonesian Student Association in Singapore) as a sub-committee of Social and Education Division..
Basically, our job is to motivate Indonesian' maids who got abused
by their employers and feel abandoned.. And give them basic knowledge in making handicrafts..

For today, we handled 92 maids, which we divided into 5 groups of 18-21 people. In this group, we played a game for ice breaker, and another game with moral education inside it..
Well, lets starts with the ice breaker, we called it "RUJAK- Fruit Salad"..

This is the rule :
1. Named each person with a fruit name (we used mango, papaya, pineapple, and guava), so in this group of 21 people, there was about 5 people with the same name..
2. Let them sit in a circle, and try to make the position of "mango" and another "mangos" far, they cannot sit side by side. It was the same for all others fruit..
3. When we called "MANGO!!" then all mangos had to stand up and change positions with another mangos.. The last person who sit down would lose..
4. When we called "RUJAK!!" then everyone (all fruits) had to stand up and change positions..

So, after 15 minutes of this game, we finally had 5 people to give punishment.. LOL
The punishment were not difficult, for example, they were only asked to sing a song, and change all the vowels on the lyrics with "i".. Else, they need to dance.. =p

After the "ice" was "broken" (I mean, after we did ice breaker), we started the more serious part of the tutoring..
We divided them into a smaller group of 6-7 people, and asked them to make a roleplay.. There was only one rule in this roleplay, they have to state the 5 phrases that we gave to them.. Well, unexpectedly, they all were very creative!! =D

Ok, the moral lesson from this roleplay is :
1. They are given same phrases to use in the roleplay, but three different group came out with three different story line. What does it mean? Everyone in this world is given the same opportunity in lives. We are making our own stories, and our stories depend on our own efforts. Let's apply it to students' lives, we are given same opportunity to study, being lectured by the same lecturer, given the same notes, but why do some students pass..? and why some others fail..? The reason is, our effort.. =) When we put more effort, we can create a better story in our lives.. =D

2. Life is not always put us at the "top", there is some times that we are "below". There are time for happiness, time for sorrows. Time for being loved, time for being neglected. Time to be succeed, time to be failed. Time to be proud, and time to be frustated. So, remember when we are "below", there will be a time for us to be at the "top". When you are sad, remember you will see a happiness after the sadness.. When you are neglected, remember that you will be loved.. =)

I learn new lesson today.. hope everyone learn new lesson as well.. =)

Cheer!!
